Block deals: common questions

What are block deals on the NSE?
A block deal is a single large trade negotiated between two parties and executed in a separate exchange window, above the exchange’s minimum order value and at a price within a narrow band of the reference price. The exchange discloses both sides after the close.
What is the difference between a block deal and a bulk deal?
A block deal is one negotiated trade in a dedicated window. A bulk deal is measured against the company instead: more than 0.5% of its listed shares changing hands for one client during the normal trading day.
Where can I check bulk and block deals on the NSE?
The NSE publishes both after the close each trading day, and this page republishes them: the latest session in full, plus a 30-day archive. Each stock links to its own research page.
What happens to a stock after a block deal?
Nothing follows automatically. A deal records one transaction that has already happened at an agreed price; it says who traded and how much, not what the price will do next. Treat it as disclosure, not as a signal.
